I believe that you'll find that the 512mb of RAM in the machine is
likely installed at 2 256mb sticks. If it came that way from Apple,
it's 'Apple' RAM and that isn't normally an issue. About all I can
suggest is to either have someone (Apple or you if you're comfortable
with it) test the ram extensively (like overnight) to confirm that you
don't have bad ram.
I have, and do run Virtual PC on a 512mb machine is it runs, albeit,
painfully slow. With so little ram for overhead, I would strongly
recommend quitting all other applications while you use VPC... that
might help somewhat, especially after you update to 10.4.3.
Otherwise, there's not a lot of help we can offer over the forum... I
don't have access to your crash or kernel panic logs to see what's
going on. If you have access to an Apple store, I'd suggest talking
with one of the Geniuses and see if they can help or offer
suggestions... or call MS PSS. Your first incident is free.
