Unless the hard drive is formatted in NTFS or FAT, Windows cannot read
it.
If you have data on the damaged VM that you just cannot live without,
there is really only 1 option available to you.
1. ) Unmount the damaged virtual machine.
2. ) Obtain a retail version of the Windows 2000 CD
3. ) launch Virtual PC and start the damaged virtual machine
4. ) Select PC/Reset from the Virtual PC menu bar
5. ) Press F8 before the Windows splash screen and do a Repair
installation of W2K from the CD
In the future, I would strongly suggest setting up a shared folder and
saving all data files from Windows to there. In addition, make a copy
of the virtual machine and place it in a different folder for backup
(preferably on a separate hard disk).
