usual keyboard and mouse problem..

i had been using virtual pc 7 with panther for months, and never
suffered any issues with the two programs whatsoever. After waiting
some time, i upgraded both my ram and OS X to Tiger, and since then,
have had nothing but problems with virtual pc. If anyone can help with
any of my issues listed below, thanks in advance.
1) after installing the upgrade to 7.02 for tiger compatibility, i also
installed the vmadditions file. immediately following the virtual
manager additions, i downloaded the new windows security hotfix. upon
restarting after in stalling the security hotfixes, my keyboard and
mouse refuse to work. looking up the support on microsofts (un)modest
support site, they suggest clicking on the update "install or update
additions". after clicking on the update, the iso file loads in the
drive, but nothing happens....the iso loads, but nothing...i cannot
even log into windows to remove my admin login - here's problem two.
2) i couldn't log into windows at all - so i shut down the xp pro os,
delete the drive, and reinstall. after reinstalling, and skipping the
microsoft updates, and only doing the virtual pc update for Tiger OS,
windows xp now refuses to recognize my fully legit copy of macromedia
studio mx - full cd, no zip or bin file, full version, but window's
cites some error halfway through the install process, and shuts down
the install. before when i was using Panther OS with virtual pc, i
never had this problem. i'm kicking myself for not backing up my data,
however, my faith in virtual pc has been somewhat obliterated by
microsoft's update for tiger. am i dillusional here? i know that there
have been a fair share of kernal problems out there, but i've never had
problems like this. is the tiger update for virtual pc (7.02) necessary
for vpc to run smoothly?
is the best sollution just to reinstall xp pro, and skip the windows
security hotfixes? or should i just wait for microsoft and apple to
find a solution?
again, any help to either of the issues mentioned above would be
greatly appreciated
thanks in advance
