You should remember that this is an emulator. It does not directly
access the processor, sound card, graphics adapter, ethernet card, etc.
It uses software packages to emulate all of those things. Bottom
line.....it will never be as fast as your Mac or any of the newer PCs
but it will function if you have a little patience.
