Really Really Need Help!

Im really stuck and am in desperate need of help! I have a PowerMac G5
Dual 2.3Ghz running tiger and have installed Virtual PC 7.0.2 because i
i cannot log into my work system (called Signify) using any Mac
browser, and i desperately need to to get my work done!
I have installed everything and it runs fine but whatever i do internet
explorer WONT CONNECT TO THE INTERNET! Internet works perfectly on the
mac as i am just using a netgear adsl modem in modem mode so i just
connect the ethernet cable and it works fine. In network settings in
MAC My IP address is displayed as 83.245.16.47, my subnet mask as
255.255.255.255 and my router as 83.245.16.47. I am using DHCP. No DNS
servers are displayed in the box, or search domains.
When i run internet explorer in Virtual PC i get the 'this page cannot
be displayed message' I have checked that shared networking is turned
on in virtual pc settings and i have made sure DHCP is turned on in
windows. Network settings are set to 'obtain ip address automatically'
and all that stuff and i am displayed as being 'connected' in the
network settings folder. I have tried doing 'setup' in internet
options and choosing 'connection that is always on via LAN' and it
still wont work!!
I have gone through some topics on this forum and have tried the ping
technique. When i ping 4.2.2.2 i recieve three responses but if i ping
a domain name it doesnt work. Here's what happens when i ping in
windows command prompt:
Microsoft Windows XP [Version 5.1.2600]
(C) Copyright 1985-2001 Microsoft Corp.
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ping 4.2.2.2
Pinging 4.2.2.2 with 32 bytes of data:

Reply from 4.2.2.2: bytes=32 time=85ms TTL=248
Reply from 4.2.2.2: bytes=32 time=88ms TTL=248
Reply from 4.2.2.2: bytes=32 time=90ms TTL=248
Ping statistics for 4.2.2.2:
Packets: Sent = 4, Received = 4, Lost = 0 (0% loss),
Approximate round trip times in milli-seconds:
Minimum = 85ms, Maximum = 91ms, Average = 88ms
C:\Documents and Settings\Administrator>ping yahoo.com
Ping request could not find host yahoo.com. Please check the name and
try again.
As a result of reading a topic on this forum I therefore tried entering
4.2.2.2 as my dns server in network settings but still no joy! I still
get the page cannot be displayed screen!
If i go to the status of my local area connection in windows the
following is displayed:
IP address: 192.168.131.65
Subnet Mask: 255.255.255.0
Default Gateway: 192.168.131.254
I have no firewalls running in windows or mac that i know of!
I have also tried installing a speedtouch USB 330 adsl modem in windows
to try and connect with that but it wont seem to let me use it, it
installs but will not operate at all.
Please please help me as i desperately need to get this working!!! Any
suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
Many Thanks
Jase
