mount drive error message

I am trying to create a disk image of VPC using the mount drive option in
settings and get the following message : The drive mount did not complete
after thirty seconds.
How do I rectify this?
I am using OS 10.3.9 and VPC 7.02 on a G-4. I was able to do this prior to
updating to 10.3.9.
