Re: Exactly what breaks in VPC with Tiger?

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

Microsoft does not do any testing on beta versions of any software, let
alone a major shift in operating system architecture (extension changes
are major, I believe).

Whether we agree with it or not, that is the policy.

So, all the talk and banter about having Tiger available long before
release so that developers could test their product is MOOT. Tiger lost
it's 'beta' label on 4/29. Granted, it may have been acquired shortly
before that date and recognized as non-beta and testing
commenced......but I would say that the testing began no more than a
few weeks before Tiger was released.

In addition to that, this is a very, very small market. Even though VPC
may be critical to many of us, there is not a lot of profit margin. To
expect a TON of money and resources to be allocated for development and
improvements to the product is just not realistic. Nobody ever
guaranteed that VPC would run at lightning speed. Nobody ever
guaranteed that ANY software would run without any problem in VPC. And,
if you look at the packaging that your VPC software came in, it states
(for operating system) Mac OS X version 10.2.8-10.3: Mac OS X version
10.3 is required for the Power Mac G5. I cannot find anything on the
packaging about Tiger. So.........we gotta wait.......big deal
