Oh my goodness, YES! Keep the PC. Absolutely. Don't even think about
getting rid of your Windows machine even if you do buy Virtual PC,
especially if you "support PCs for a living."
I've said it before and I'll say it again: Virtual PC is a wonderful
application and has many functional uses. However, replacing a physical
PC is NOT one of them. To purchase and install VPC expecting it to
perform anywhere close to how an actual Windows machine would perform
is a terrible error in judgment. Slower speeds, apps that are not
compatible in VPC, input devices that won't work and deeply lowered
graphic abilities are simply some of the disappointments you will
encounter.
Think of VPC as a helper app, a cross-platform convenience, NOT as a
replacement for a physical computer.
