Wait until Mac OS X 1.3.9, and brace for a possible system crash of 10.3.9
does not have what I am about to suggest.
10.3.9 is supposed to have NTFS filesystem support (according to this
article at MacRumours:
http://www.macrumors.com/pages/2005/03/20050322220911.shtml
) so that you should be able to insert your USB key onto your PowerBook,
and not send your Mac's kernel crashing.
Once the Mac happily accepts your USB key, select the USB device to use
under the virtual machine's PC Settings (Command-T) so that the virtual
machine has exclusive "rights" to it.
