Hi!
I was hoping to get some help with a problem I'm having getting VPC to
recognise my USB MP3 player.
When I first bought my MP3 player (X-Logic XL833A), I was using OSX
10.2.8, VPC 6.1 & Windows 98. The drivers installed fine and I found
that as long as I connected the player after Windows had started it
would recognise it without any problems and I could freely exchange
files from my shared (OSX - Windows) folder and the player.
I recently updated OSX to 10.3.7, now when I start VPC and Windows 98
it won't recognise the player. The drivers have been installed but when
I connect the player the computer will freeze for a couple of seconds
while the player starts up, then the player switches off and there's no
icon in the 'My Computer' window.
I've tried connecting from the USB port on the keyboard as well as the
port directly off the back of computer. I've also tried VPC versions
5,6,6.1,7 & 7.1 and connecting the player either before or after
Windows has started - all with no success. I am suspecting that there's
some difference between Jaguar and Panther that has altered the way VPC
recognises a USB device - although I haven't tried any other devices
yet. But I don't want to go back to Jaguar just to solve this problem,
but I was wondering if I should try Windows XP instead of 98. I'm in
the process of downloading OSX 10.3.8 - so it will be interesting to
see if this makes a difference.
I would really appreciate any help or advice with this, as OSX won't
directly recognise the player and I can't find any OSX drivers for it,
so the only way is (or was!) to use VPC - but at the moment the player
is useless.
Thanks!
Dwight
