It is. Thats why you need to create a new disk image to make the
clone.

You need to boot the system from a floppy disk or a floppy disk image.
Ghost doesn't run in Windows. If you don't have a physical floppy
drive, then you need to use a floppy disk image to boot the VM and
load Ghost. There are numerous places to get/make boot disks
including many versions of Ghost.

Those steps are not complex, in fact, they're much simpler, fewer, and
faster than any other method of compacting a disk image.
