Your home network behind the Airport's firewall is your private
intranet. Your machines are likely safe from each other. But like
other PCs, if you download or receive malware in VPC via IE or Outlook,
then VPC might begin to access other machines in your home network. You
can stop this access with ZoneAlarm or the Windows firewall.
These kind of security decisions are dependent on your tolerance for
risk. It is highly unlikely that a PC virus would affect any Macs on
your network. I personally only have read-only shares in my home
network, where I "pull" files from one machine to another versus
allowing read-write shares. In my setup, I have no firewalls on OS X or
XP machines behind my Linksys router. With this information, you may
decide what to do in your enivonment.
