I have purchased the latest Virtual PC version with Windows XP Pro
service pack 2 included and installed this on my Duo 2GHZ G5 Apple
with OS 10.3.6 and 2GHZ of Ram. This all works fine. It is like a
normal PC.
I have a USB 1.1 SCANSNAP FI-4110EOX from Fujitsu that works fine
connected to a Sony desktop with similarly windows XP Pro with
servicepack 2.

I installed the scansnap software with latest update under vitual PC
and connected the scanner with one of the USB ports of my G5. When I
start a single or duo page scan, the scanner kicks in when I press the
scan button. A page is scanned, Virtual PC starts up the scansnap
software and automatically opens, like it should and does on the Sony,
Acrobat. However, what appears is a blank page. In other words, it
scans, but somehow the image is not transferred to virtual PC on the
mac. When I reconnect the scanner with the Sony PC, all works fine.
There is nothing wrong with the scanner. I have tried switching USB
ports on my G5, but this does not make a difference and all USB ports
are fully functional (I did an extended hardware test on my G5 on
everything from CPU to memory etc..
I sent an e-mail to Fujitsu, but all they say is:
"We're sorry but there is no support for Virtual PC environments. If
you have any further questions please contract technical support at
1-800-626-4686 and press option 2, then 3."

Thank you

So no help from their side.

I am baffled as to why this happens, because Virtual PC on my G5 with
Windows XP Pro works great. It runs various PC programs without any
problem, including the Adobe Acrobat software. Virtual does recognize
the software from Scansnap and it recognizes the hardware during
installation and once it is connected. The PC desktop looks exactly
the same as the Sony PC.

So the question remains: Why does the page scan not show up on Virtual
PC? Is this a USB issue?
While Fujitsu has a Japanese OS X version of the software, this
version does not apply to this first model of their Scansnap.

Any thoughts?
