I recommmend creating an extra virtual drive (d:) if you need more hard
disk space rather than having a huge c: drive. See
http://www4.tpgi.com.au/users/aoaug/mac_osx.html#vpc
for reasons.
Once you have a VPC configured with all your Windows programs make a
backup of the c: drive disk image file within OS X (mine easily fits on
a DVD becuase my data is on the d: drive). This can be used to restore
the system if (when!) you have a crash. See above link for tips. This
tip also applies to Bob B's query about XP "Recovery" (ie don't just
rely on recovery within Windows).
