My Ricoh digital camera and "old" JVC digital video camera work well
with OS X Panther. I just plugged them in and they worked with iPhoto
and iMovie respectively.
However, a Canon scanner would not work (either with OS X or VPC6). Take
care buying a scanner as some (eg Canon) only come with Mac Classic
drivers. I eventually bought a HP scanner that came with OS X drivers
(and great CD album software). See links at
