Hello - I am running VPC 6.1.1. Windows XP Home on my G3 Pismo
powerbook running Panther 10.3.3. What I am trying to do is get my
tivo to call into the XP side over a keyspan USB Serial adapter. This
adapter doesn't really seem to function as a USB port in VPC but if I
set the VPC settings to enable the COM1 port to see the serial port
name that is installed by the adapter software on the Mac it seems to
work. At least I can get the tivo to use hyperterminal and when I
make a test call I see garbage and a user request - so something is
happening.
The problem is, when I try to make the same test call on an incoming
connection set up according to the instructions provided here:
http://www.b-lan.com/otto/tivo3xp/index.html
nothing happens.
Tivo is not supported at all in Canada - if only it was, this would be
so much easier. There are user sites set up that allow for
downloading listings to a pc and then into the tivo when it calls in -
but I can't get the call to work.
If anyone has any suggestions I'd really appreciate any help you can
give. I just don't know what to try next. Keyspan told me that they
don't actually support virtual pc installations for the adapter
because running on an emulator can confuse things and they can't use
any of their regular diagnostics.
Please, help if you can. Thanks
