I have a fully functional version of Office 2004 - with all of the latest
updates - with an Entourage database that is about 10.5 gb. I was able to
install 2008 and without any problems. When I go to start Entourage 2008 it
went through a very long process to upgrade the messages and then at the very
end indicates that there is a problem accessing the data and to repair the
database. (it does not show up in the 2008 repair utility)
When I go back to 2004 and do a verify there are no problems reported. I can
compact the database without any problems. However, if I try to repair the
database I get an error message after about 20 minutes that a problem was
encountered and it needs to stop. I tried to do a manual export of all items
from Entourage 2004 and get an error message that there was a problem with
one of the messages and the export was not complete. I have no idea how much
was actually exported.
Looking for any suggestions on this.
I had the same problem and finally had to create a new identity in 2008
and manually bring in my inbox, sent mail etc. It was a pain but now
works perfect and I can rebuild my database.
