The problem, I'm slightly embarrassed to report, was self-inflicted. Had
nothing to do with iDisk, but occurred on restart because I had "neatened" up
my Document folders by inserting a space before every folder title so that the
folders would appear at the head of the list, alphabetized, a la Windows. When
Office restarted, it found no correctly labeled MUD (Microsoft User Data)
folder, so it created a new one. Meanwhile the old one was hiding with a space
before the name.
Removed space, trashed the newly created MUD, and all is restored.
It common for users to move the folder and find it opens with no mail.
Did you realize you can customize the top of the Finder window and add your
favorite folders?
Open a Finder window. I like the Column View since it's like looking at the
entire desktop.
Select under View in the Menu bar "Customize Toolbar" You can drag folders
to the menu bar. I use custom icons to easily identify, or you can select to
show both icon and text.
To customize icon for folder, do a Get Info (command-I)
Click on the little icon at the top. It will show a light blue line around
it to show it's selected. Select an icon and copy/paste on the selected icon
in Get Info.
Search Google for Mac icons. You'll find lots of free ones.
