The Installer does not support updating an application in a location other
than a bootable partition. You will need to move the application back to a
bootable partition get the updater to work. You can move it back after
updating. (This is a Apple installer function.)
The updater will only update the RTM version. You should check the
MicrosoftComponentPlugin.framework and the applications should be 12.0.0
(071130) (European build numbers could be different)
If the updater fails or says it cannot find a version of Office that needs
updating, then reboot and try again.
Apply the latest Apple Combo updater. It will overwrite files that might
have become corrupt.
Remember to restart after updating and run Repair Permissions

Hi Diane,
thanks for your detailled reply.
all Office files are in their original location on a bootable partition. I am using Office 12.0.0 build 071130 which actually is an american version (couldn't wait for the german one ;-))
What means RTM version and how can I check the MicrosoftComponentPlugin.framework and for what?
I have tried rebooting already, the combo update is installed (that is if you mean the Leaopard 10.5.2 update) and have repaired permissions...
But still the same error message
I will reboot once more and let you know what happens
.
