Re: Previewing graphics problem in Word 2004 (when trying to select)

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hello again-

The issue is pretty clear, but perhaps my point wasn't. More succinctly,
when I retrieve graphics from the Google site using either of the methods
described in my reply, the image preview shows up without a problem in
Word's Insert>Picture>From File dialog box. The one difference is that I am
running OS X 10.4.4, but 10.3.9 should work the same way. So what we need to
determine is why it doesn't work the same for you as it does for me :)

Is Office 2004 updated to the most current version on these systems (SP2,
11.2.1)?

Exactly how are you doing so?

What do the image file icons look like in the Finder window?

Ctrl+Click one of the images in the Finder window, choose Get Info & see
what 'Type' the image file is and click the 'Preview:' arrow near the bottom
of the Get Info window to see if the image previews there. Also note the
'Open With:' information.

What browser are you using?

To help focus the issue, try launching the Preview application, go into the
Open file dialog box & navigate to the folder where the 'problem' images are
stored. Click one & see if the image previews there. If not, the problem is
most likely not with Word.

Post back with your findings & if I can't help sort it out I'm sure there is
someone 'listening in' who can. In the meantime, you might use Disk Utility
to run the Repair Disk Permissions on the systems involved if it hasn't been
done recently.
