    I'm completely brainstorming, and hopefully someone will come along with
    more authoritative information, but...MDI is (I think) created by a feature
    in newer versions of windows (MS Document Image Writer?), and seems parallel
    to PDF, so I would try opening them with Preview, Acrobat Reader, or
    PictureViewer, conceivably even Photoshop. Let us know what, if anything,
    works.

    Also note that the MS web interface messes up and sometimes gives incorrect
    error messages. Your message got posted 4 times. Other ways to access:
