This is the wrong newsgroup - there's a newsgroup for outlook.mac - but as
far as I recall, Outlook 2001 only imports contacts in CSV and tab-text
format, not LDIF. I seem to recall to recall that Netscape has a utility
that converts the LDIF file to tab-text. Not only that, I recall it uses the
same absurd quotation marks around every field that Outlook 2001 also does.
This wrecks havoc with every other app on the Mac but should be compatible
between them. Check the Help in Netscape for exporting contacts - and you'll
find that utility somewhere.
