Yeah - it's called the Normal.dotm template :-) [Or whatever template the
new file is based on.]
Has the Language formatting in your Normal.dotm or styles perhaps been
altered in some way? Try replacing the Normal.dotm as described here & see
if it makes a difference when the new one is generated:

in individual documents. But I want something so that when I open a new
document that I don't have to check all my settings to be correct.
