Re: Entire Microsoft Office Suite Will Not Open

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

I completely agree with John - something is amiss with your system if
*everything* is quitting & triggering that message. One other thought that
John didn't include:

Back up any user files first then start up from your OS X source DVD & run
Disk Utility - Repair Disk. If it finds any errors run it again until it
reports no errors found. It will also tell you if there are errors that
can't be repaired, in which case Disk Warrior or one of the other drive
management utilities may be able to help. If not, do as John advised & hie
thee & thy Mac to the nearest Apple Shoppe.

If you buy Office 2008, it will be able to open your previous work, yes.
And save it.

However, I think your computer has some major problems, and I do not think
that Office 2008 will work either if you try to install it.

The fact that Repair Permissions crashes indicates very major problems with
your operating system.

I would take that computer to an expert. If you can't get to an expert,
look up the instructions on the Apple site for doing an "Archive and
Install" of OS X.

I would prefer that you went to an expert. Your computer is in a rather
delicate condition, and unless it is handled carefully, you might lose the
entire content of your hard disk.

Make sure you have a backup before taking the computer in: some shops have a
bad habit of wiping the hard disk without telling you. If you can't run a
backup, then take the computer to an Apple show and tell them that you want
them to run a backup before they attempt to do anything else. If they will
not agree to give you the backup before they start work, go to another shop.

Hope this helps

I have downloaded the repair privileges and every time I attempt to run it I
get the same exact message as when I try to open up any of the applications.
The application quit unexpectedly.

I have also downloaded Office 2004 11.5.0 Update and when I try to run that I
also get the same message "The application quit unexpectedly."

I have even tried unsuccessfully to remove the entire Microsoft Office and I
get the same message "The Application Quit Unexpectedly."

I just do not know what I could do to fix this problem. If I get Microsoft
Office '08 and install that will I be able to open my previous work created
on
Microsoft '04???
