Text shows as English and Japanese

Gang,
I'm editing a .doc document created by a colleague, using compatibility
mode. I'm editing using Track Changes, with the Track Changes while
Editing option selected, so I see the markups as I make them.
I pasted in some text and then used the format painter to apply the font
format from the rest of the document to the pasted text. In so doing,
the markup balloon says:
Formatted: Font:Arial, 11 pt, (Asian) Japanese
The strange thing is that if I select any text in the document--whether
it is the existing text I used to "activate" the format painter tool, or
the newly formatted, pasted text, and go to Tools>Language, it shows
"English (US)". The only indication of this (Asian) Japanese text is in
the Track Changes balloon.
Is this something to be concerned about (eg, invisible formatting jun
that may cause corruption later on)?
TIA,
Dennis
.
