Re: often cannot insert images into Word document

Well, I don't mean to rain on your parade, but the issue addressed by item
#6 of that page *was* corrected by the SP1 (12.1.0) update. Also, if you
reread the item you'll see that D'n'D was *not* recommended as the solution
- it was simply noted in the first paragraph that it continued to work even
though the Insert command didn't. The second paragraph provided the
preferred solution at the time. [BTW - the "someone" was me :-)]

It is no longer a universal bug & I've seen no reports of the problem not
being corrected on systems that are properly updated. If you're experiencing
similar symptoms they're being caused by a different problem. [It should be
noted that the 12.1.2 update has introduced a similar bug involving the
Insertion of PDF file types *only*, but that is a *new* issue & hasn't yet
been fixed. Other file types should insert correctly with no problem.]

Drag and Drop is a workaround - not a fix - which is only effective because
it *bypasses* the import filters Word employs when the proper method is
used. It isn't a preferable alternative to Insert & can lead to other issues
further down the road - especially if the document containing D'n'D images
is forwarded to a Windows system.

Anyhow, it seems that someone has found what is causing the bug:

Just as suggested in that webpage. Drag-and-drop of images works fine
where using the "Insert Picture" option fails. Now if MS would just
fix the problem.

Have you by any chance removed or deleted anything from the MS Office 2008

I'm still having the same problem with inserting images into Word

It seems to be most prevalent when attempting to modify existing
".doc" files that were created with Word 2004. I have also seen it
happen with ".doc" files created in 2008. Its the same situation as
before. When I try to insert any type of image (gif, jpg, png, eps)
file Word 2008 will complain that a converter doesn't exist for the
file type. Same system setup as mention before: OS X 10.5.4. Word
12.1.2, MacBook Pro 2.6 GHz, 2 GB of RAM. Per CyperTaz's question in
the other thread, yes I have repaired permissions. I am very
fastidious about keeping the operating system in good condition. I
always do a repair permissions after installing any software.
