Hello Fooster -

Not being defensive, but if all worked fine before the OS X update I'm not
sure how it qualifies as a "MS bug". Especially since, - as you noted -
there doesn't seem to be any indication of other users having a similar
experience. I for one have no such difficulty on either of my installations
of Office 2008. I'm inclined to believe it's something of a more local
nature :-)

The first step I'd suggest is to d/l & apply the 10.5.4 COMBO updater from
the Apple site: http://www.apple.com/support/downloads/

It's more complete than the version you get from Software Update and the
Combo often "fixes" what the SU version "breaks" :-)

Also, make sure that Office is fully updated to 12.1.1 & repair permissions.

If that doesn't correct the problem there must be some other conflict that
needs to be resolved. In that case, post a new message - not a reply -
giving all particulars specific to you situation & systems. There may be a
3rd party utility involved or some other issue interfering with the process.

The problem was corrected (for most anyway) by SP1 (12.1.0) & I've not seen
any backlash resulting from the 12.1.1 update. Have you repaired disk
permissions & restarted since applying whatever update you last installed?

It's possible you have a similar but different situation, so give complete
details re Office & OS X versions and type of Mac. It would also help if
you'd clarify the points about differing file types (.doc/.docx) & saved v.
unsaved documents.
