Re: Word deletes paragraphs when changing styles

Hi John.

Thanks for your prompt response and sorry for my delayed answer.

Well, I actually called in a colleague to witness this behavior and it definitely removed one paragraph from the list items by going to Format->Styles->Select Font->Changed font to Gill Sans Light.

After changing the view to Normal I could still not see the paragraph. After a <ctrl>Z it appeared again.

I then just selected the paragraphs and changed the font manually to Gill Sans Light, which did not remove the paragraph. But I guess that defeats the purpose of having Styles, doesn't it.

I was able to reproduce this problem again and again. I invited other staff to also check whether I am doing anything wrong. I have been using Word for the last 12 years now and also very familiar with Styles and some advanced Functions, such as VBA Macros etc.

It was clearly Word 2008 that removed the paragraph upon changing the font in the Style for List paragraph Style.

It is always very easy to blame users when they claim something doesn't work properly. It's just in the nature of first and second level support people to do this. In this case, it's not the operator it's the system, no doubt.

There is nothing in a "Style" that can delete anything.

But it "could" hide things. Put them under something else. Or move them to
another page.

A style simply sets various "Properties" for a paragraph. Some of those
properties will make a paragraph invisible under some circumstances.

But never "removed".

Please tell us more about what you are doing, and what is in the style you
are applying.

Cheers

Hi All

I have a list paragraph style. When I change the font of this style, word 2008
automagically deletes the last paragraph. It's really gone. I have never seen
anything like it. What a weird application Word 2008 is.

Anyone else who experienced the Office 2008 weirdness factor?

Not happy, I would rather go back to office X

Cheers
