Visual tear when scrolling

but it is now closed, and wasn't resolved, and I didn't find any other follow-up. I am frequently encountering garbled text as I scroll down a page in word draft view (especially when clicking with the mouse on the little scroll buttons on the left of the screen). This brings back bad old memories from problems with older versions of Word that I hadn't run into with Word X or 2004. To get back to work I have to do some more scrolling to get the machine to reset the screen. Annoying.

I'm using an older laptop (1.33 GHz PowerPC, with 1 GB of SDRAM), if that helps any (or you think it is hurting me). I'm using the 12.1.1 update.
