Hi Gary:
What happened is that Word corrupted one or more of its preference files.
You should delete them and allow Word to make a new set.

I have been creating a large (500K+) document in Word 2004 (using OS
10.4.11 with the latest Word updates, if that matters) and all of a
sudden I find that 1) the ordinal par of numbers is no longer converted
to superscript (e.g. 1st, 2nd, ...), 2) autocorrection of my spelling no
longer takes place, and 3) Thesaurus no longer works properly - nothing
happens when I enter a word and there is no box below to display results.
Thinking I could get back my prefs by quitting I did so but Word
crashed. I apparently didn't lose anything after reopening the document
I haven't (knowingly) changed anything, so...what happened and how do I
restore my preferences?
