To offer any ideas we need more detailed information:
What do you mean "eats" all of your memory - how are you determining this?
How much RAM does your Mac have?
What type of content is in the documents... Pictures, tables?
How many fonts are installed & do you have WYSIWYG turned on?
Are you using Track Changes?

Also after the update (12.0.1) Word often (most of the times actually) eats
all of my memory. This happens when I have two documents open (I need to have
more docs open most of the time), but it might also be with just one.
Somebody else experiencing this after the update? What to do?
