Does this file have a lot of embedded images? Because 5MB for a Word file is pretty big, and that size could signal corruption.

When I attempt to save a word document, I get the error message, "The disk is
full trying to write to Macintosh HD", followed by unhelpful recommendations
to free up space on a drive that has almost 52 GB of free space.
Nor can I save the document to a flash drive with almost 17 MB available.
All this for a file of approximately 5 MB.
Bizarrely, I can download a 12MB mpeg file off the internet and save it to my
hard disk.
Is there a particular reason why Word is doing this?
