Re: convert a Word file with extension.dotx

Tech-Archive recommends: Speed Up your PC by fixing your registry

There is two caveats noted on the link for the updated Translators.

Caveat #1: will only install on HD or Partition using X.4.8 or above so if your on OSX.3.9 like me your out of luck.

Caveat # 2: If you have both Office 2004 and 2008 on the Same Hard Drive or partition installing the Translators will render the Translators in 2008 useless it will corrupt the 2008 Translators.

This is all documented on the Mactopia link given on the screen you go to just before clicking download.

I am bit by both. My main day to Day Machine I can't get updated to OSX.4 (perhaps it is balking at he Memory I have installed or something).

And on my Laptop I already has 2004 installed then installed 2008 so I can't install on that reason as well.

So if you uses at least OSX.4.8 OS. and don't have Office 2008 installed your good to go.

opened natively in Word 2008 or, since you still have Word 2004, by using

If it's "fixed", don't "break it"!
