Re: Word for Mac Suddenly Quit Working

When you download the combo updater it is a good idea to run *Verify
and Reapir disk permitions* from DISK UTILITY which sits in your
application folder>utilities

If downloading the updates and runing the verify permition will not
help, post back and we will guide you through other things which may
cause the problem. Do not reinstall office this will hardly solve the
problem.

Can I remove Word or the entire Office program and reinstall? Would
that use up my final of three installs or simply be second install?

FIrst, you have three licenses, not three "installs". You can uninstall
and reinstall to your heart's content as long as you don't have more
than three installations running at the same time.

Second, unistalling and reinstalling Mac applications almost NEVER fixes
a problem like this. Applications just don't break/corrupt that easily.
The most likely source of corruption is bad preference files, which
don't get removed (unless you run the Remove Office application).

However, in this case, even running Remove Office will likely be a waste
of time.

Third, the problem almost certainly is due to the broken Apple Quicktime
update, which you probably installed yesterday or today:
