Re: Notification of replies to topics in google groups

Tech-Archive recommends: Repair Windows Errors & Optimize Windows Performance

Hi Michelle:

I thought Google Groups did offer that facility. The Microsoft version
does:
http://www.microsoft.com/communities/newsgroups/default.mspx

Just make sure you are logged in, or the feature won't appear.NTP
newsgroups. The websites you are going to are "scraping" their text onto
the web, but they're not web-based forums.

These groups go back to the dawn of the Internet (they ARE the dawn of the
Internet, long before the WWW happened...)

If I were to point you to the use of a Newsreader, and you were to spend the
five minutes it will take you to set it up, you may never want to use Forums
again... :-)

Accessed through a newsreader, Usenet groups are so much faster than forums
or groups, and you have far more power and control over what, when, and how
you read things.

Cheers

Is it possible in google groups to receive an e-mail notification when
there's a reply to a topic that you've posted in?

Several forums that I participate in have this function and it makes it much
easier to follow a topic. Sometimes I forget to go back and check all of my
topics to see if someone's posted a reply.

Does this make sense? Maybe Google groups doesn't offer this, as it is
typically a "forum"-style option. I guess google groups remind me so much
of forums, that I'm wishing some features crossed over.
