Opening After Force Quit Toolbars Are Gone

Hi,

First problem:
Word freezes often, particularly upon pasting selected/copied text from
a website into Word.

Second problem:
When frozen, I have to force quit. When I re-open Word, my toolbars
are gone, there is only a blank document set just below the menu bar.
I have to go to view<toolbars, and pick out the toolbars to get them
back.

I don't know why I'm freezing so often, and I don't know why the tool
bars disappear when I re-open the program.
