Re: unable to insert symbol with latest version of Office

Hi Elliott,
I use Office's Entourage Calendar for scheduling. Offices
Notifications is when a pop-up comes up to remind me of an appointment
(or task). What's happening since I trashed preferences, etc. is I
think both Office X and Office 2004 are reading the same calendar and
sending notifications. This also happened right after I installed
Office 2004 and I trashed some preference back then and it stopped, but
I forget what preference it was (if it even was a preference).

I never used the Word 2004 trial. I didn't even know there was one.
All I did was install Word 2004 as per the instructions (Easy Install,
etc.). I'm pretty sure I used the Office Set-up Assistant rather than
just dragging over the application, but other than that I followed all
the default commands.

I don't know if this is helpful, but earlier this summer my hard drive
crashed and I had to re-install everything after getting a new hard
drive. At that time I re-installed Office X (I had not yet ever
installed Office 2004) and I had a similar problem (bullets wouldn't
display properly in PowerPoint, autocorrect wouldn't convert --> to an
arrow, etc.). I did some messing around back then, including (I think)
de-installing and re-install Word X, but I don't think that fixed the
problem. Frankly, I can't remember what did, but I think it might have
been dragging the application back out of the trash. Like I said, this
is probably not that helpful, but I wanted you to know I had a similar
problem recently with Office X and it was fixable (although I don't
know exactly how).

What's weird is Office X works fine -- my "bullet" problems, etc. are
only with Office 2004.
