Ooops. Sorry, I forgot that there might be non OSX Microsoft Office installs out there. Your suggestions certainly have merit under those criteria :-)


I absolutely refused to put anything Microsoft on my Mac prior to OSX because:

a) The number of required extensions in the system would literally double and,

b) Most other applications would tend to break (probably due to "a" above).

In OSX the runtime environments for the different applications can be isolated a bit better so it's not nearly as serious as it was on those earlier OSs
