I havenąt messed with fonts in a long time. I have three or four I like and
no use for the others, so this is not a familiar problem area.

Still, I do have a lot of them because Iąve installed lots of Adobe packages
over the years.

I took all of the OS9 fonts out of their folder and all of the Library/Fonts
fonts out of that folder. Then I logged off and on. Same Database Daemon
application launch failure alert. No change in the (non-) launch of Word.

Then I put those fonts back and did the same routine with the fonts in the
~/Library/Fonts folder. Logged off. Logged on with exactly the same bad
results.

This is becoming pretty frustrating.

I know it has something to do with that Database Daemon alert, but what is
causing that???

Phooey. (and thanks!)

Best,
