The infinite spinning rainbow wheel

    The tech details:

    Powerbook G4/500
    256MB RAM/40GB drive
    OS 10.2.8
    Office 10.1.5 fully installed

    Here's the deal:

I'm in the midst of trying to finish a book; and just like the last time I
sent it to my publisher, Word is f*&*ing with me. (Last time, it was Word
    2001.)

I open one of the chapters which includes both regular English text and
Spanish-tagged text in it. When it opens - whether it's done from the file
icon OR through File>Open>filename - it appears before me in normal form.
Then, the spinning rainbow wheel appears, and never goes away (until I force
    quit).

    The remedies I've attempted:

-- Rebuild the Normal template (no change)
-- Attempt to recover the file through all the measures listed on the MS
support site (only recover all text worked)
-- Change the preferences to eliminate autosaves, and asked that the Normal
    template not automatically update

Any thoughts? This is the only file that the problem appears with.

A thousand thank-yous in advance, and a request to reply to the email
address (scott.schaffer@millersville.edu) as well as the newsgroup.

    Best, Scott

their muscles to carry off a prize; others bring trinkets to sell to the
crowd for a profit; and some there are who seek no further advantage than to
look at the show and see how and why everything is done. They are spectators
of other men's lives in order better to judge and manage their own." --
