You won't need a converter if you're using Word X, since Word X reads Word
6.
Before someone gets back to answer, could you please clarify a couple of
aspects? Are you talking about Word v.10 on the Mac? Is there anything
significant in your saying "importing a doc. created in Word 6.0", or are
you just trying to open a Word 6 doc in Word X? Could you describe exactly
what is happening when the doc does not "open correctly"? Is it only one
document, or all such documents?
