Hi Steve,
Do some small extensions tests before going all the way to a Remove and
Reinstall.
By the way, if it does come to remove and reinstall, download the Remove
Office tool from Mactopia as the one included on the CD is faulty. Be sure
to back up all Templates, Normal, and the Prefs folder first, also MS Office
Manager Prefs if you use that.
You can boot with all extensions off by holding down the shift key as it
restarts, which generally tells you whether it is actually an extensions
conflict. However, I can't remember whether Word will actually launch if
certain extensions aren't loaded, so while I suggest you try it, it might
not work. On the other hand, it should give you an error message rather
than the problem you cite. [please let me know what happens]
If Word won't launch with no extensions at all, try booting with only the
extensions Word needs on--which I think (from studying what I have loaded
and what Conflict Catcher tells me) would be:
MS Clipboard Library
MS Component Library
MS OLE [anything] [3 of these]
MS Structured Storage
If Word will launch and stay launched in either of those cases, then it is
probably worth doing the manual extensions conflict search, as I don't think
removing and reinstalling will fix an extensions conflict.
Hope something helps.
