I CAN'T believe that you won't fix this for me.... :>)

You made a great suggestion -- I just put feedback in on www.mactopia.com.

I am hoping that Microsoft lurks in this site to get a sense for
issues/suggestions -- hence my post. Also, I think it's worth potential
issues to be aware of this issue.

I can't believe they default to this functionality -- I presume it's a bug
that they overlooked. It makes it very disconcerting to use.

Thank you for replying. Hopefully, they'll fix this very annoying bug.

I'm afraid we have no more idea "why not?" than you do. Nobody here - in
general - has anything to do with designing/revising MS software... We're
just users of the product like everyone else :-)

The best direct approach to MS is to use Help> Send Feedback & add your
comments to those who have already done so. Enough complaints will draw the
attention of those who can do something about the problem.

I have Microsoft Powerpoint 2008 for Mac.

I generally like the product -- HOWEVER, a huge issue is that every time I
open a file, even just to look at it, the "Date Modified" changes. This is
completely messing up file organization -- as it's making it impossible to
look back by date for a file in the past. Once I've opened it, it becomes
current.

This should have been fixed in the last update -- why not?
