Re: resize object and text together

Hi Tchi,

Jim, one of our MVPs, has already responded with a solution that will work
when you enable "Text Transforms" (click on "Quick Styles and Effects" and
then click on the "abc" tab button, and then choose a Text Transform Style).

However there is another solution that only affects the size and not the
shape of text. There is a feature across Office for text boxes and text in
shapes (not available in Word) that will resize text when the size of the
shape changes. Double-click your shape or text and click on ³Text Box² in
the list on the left. Then select ³Resize text to fit shape²:

This however is not a perfect solution because it only resizes text
³smaller² from the originally specified text size. The workaround to this
problem when you make shapes bigger is to simply start off your text at a
very large size (such as 144pt). Then enable this option and the text will
size appropriately to the size of your shape. If you decide to make your
shape smaller/larger the text will size appropriately up to 144pt (or
whatever size you selected). Here are some sample steps:

1. Insert your shape
2. Type some text in the shape
3. Type ³144² into the ³Size² dropdown in the Font area of the
Formatting Palette
4. Double-click the shape
5. Click ³Text Box²
6. Click on ³Resize text to fit shape²
7. Click OK

Note that you can do this when you have many shapes selected at once, so
you don¹t have to repeat it for each shape.

I hope either of these solutions will work for you.

In powerpoint, the font size and object size are controlled independently.
This becomes a pain when you want to resize a figure containing both texts and
objects, because the texts and objects are no longer in proportion and become
misaligned after resizing. Is there a way out of this?

Thanks,
