I believe that is controlled by AutoCorrect & can't be turned off for
individual types of containers. Unless someone has additional insights a
couple of options are:
1- Immediately after the AutoCorrect is triggered key Command+Z to undo it,
or
2- After completing the entry press esc to select the shape then key
Shift+F3 twice to convert case back to all lower.

I have recently upgraded to PPT 2004. This version seems intent on

this might not be new in this version, but I don't recall this
happening before.
In any case, does anyone know of a preference setting to turn this off
for callouts? It's fine behavior in text boxes, but no good for me in
the callouts.
