Re: Viewer

Hi Connie -

The "extra part" is called a file name extension, and most files have them -
you just sometimes don't *see* them:) PPt 2007 native (default) file format
(.pptx) is not directly readable by anything other than PPt 2007 - even on
the PC. The best recommendation for files that need to go back & forth or
shared with other versions is to save them in PPt 97-2003 format (selectable
through the Save As dialog as well as being able to be set as the default
format through PPt 2007 Options). Otherwise:

Recently released are Converters which you can download from here:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx?pid=download&location=/mac/downl
oad/Office2004/ConverterBeta_0_2.xml

These are new beta releases which I have not personally used as yet so I
can't attest to their effectiveness. Keep in mind, though, that these
filters are *betas* and also that there may be features applied in the 2007
file that aren't supported in other versions of PPt. Therefore the file may
not convert exactly as it was designed. If you can't re-save the file as a
PPt rather than PPtX the converter route is the way to go.

If you _do use_ the converters please post back with your results - I'm sure
many others would like to have the feedback:)
