Undesired Chart Resizing

I've only recently started doing a lot of chart work with excel, so
I'm not sure if this action is a bug, or is just the nature of the
charts in excel, but...

After I make a chart, if I resize any of the columns that lies under
the chart, the chart width also changes. If I use the 'lock aspect'
the chart still resizes, and it does not resize proportionately. (and
even if it did, this is not the desired result)

It would be great if chart sizing is independent of column and row
sizing - or at least have the option.

Thanks,
