You need to visit the Preferences too - General, clear the R1C1 check.

Sure - Excel> Preferences> View - remove the check for Row & Column
Headers... perhaps that will work for whatever you're trying to do, but keep
in mind that the header labeling is what enables identifying the cells:)

Hi Folks!

When looking at an Excel Work***, the columns are labeled across the
top alphabetically (A-Z and then AA, AB, AC, AD, etc.) and the rows
are labeled down the side numerically.

Can anyone tell me how to hide the letters and the numbers?

They're hidden for rows and columns that I've hidden, but for rows and
columns that are not hidden, is there anyway to hide those "labels"?

I'm on Mac 10.4.9 using Excel 2004 11.3.5
