It might also be a good idea to update your OS - current is 10.4.8 - and
make sure to use the Combo Updater for your breed of processor from the
Apple site. Don't forget to run Repair Disk Permissions afterward.

You are connected to the internet, yes?

Ok check this out:

As you can see, the first url, looks ok, right, wont open.

Unfortunately how it "looks" in the cell means absolutely nothing - you can
type or paste anything you like and XL will format it as an active hyperlink
if it "looks" like a URL or email address. That doesn't mean it *points* to
a valid target. Copy this into a sheet & see what happens when you click it:

www.cyboinfo.com/

Hover your pointer on the h'link & wait for the tip box to open. If the
control tip text hasn't been modified it will display what the actual URL
is. Make sure *it* is correct. If not, right-click the cell, go to Edit
Hyperlink & make the necessary correction.
Bob, on the first url, when hover the full url appears, but it wont click to
website. If I copy paste, it will work, so know the address is good. What
more can I do?

Quite honestly I'm befuddled by this one myself.

The URL ( http://www.cyborginfo.com ) is certainly valid & I have no problem
hitting it directly from Safari or Firefox.

However, I've tried typing as well as pasting the URL into XL & Word but it
will not work from either. I get the same "Unable to open..." dialog you're
seeing. Additionally, when I quit Word or XL after trying to access that
site I get the "[Program] has unexpectedly quit" malarkey. The same behavior
regardless of whether I have Safari or Firefox set as the default browser.

The only *guess* I can come up with is that the site has some sort of
security design that recognizes that it is being hit by some other app
through a browser & denies access to prevent harvesting of info. Don't even
know it that's possible, but I can't think of any other explanation.

Perhaps someone else may have additional insights to offer.
