Ahh, good questions, I should have known better than to have left out that

The printer is a network-connected HP LaserJet 4000n using PPD file version
1.2.2 X and driver version 10.4.
I never made it to preview; when I selected the scaling option, that is when
it crashed.
I downloaded the latest driver from HP, updating the PPD file to 5.7.0.102,
so I'll try that out at first opportunity. It may not be definitive, as the
last time I tried to print the same document scaled, it worked. Maybe Excel
just needed to be convinced it was a good idea.

One of two things happens:
(1) The pages do not scale and will print as if no scaling was selected; or
(2) Excel crashes and sends an error report.
A Google search did not yield any leads.
Ideas?
Dave
have the latest drivers?
